１３章
1. さて、その日、イエスは家を出て海辺に座しておられた。
2. すると、大群衆が彼の所に互いに集まって来た。そこで彼は舟に乗り、腰をお掛けになった。又、すべての群衆は浜に立っていた。
3. そこで、彼は多くの事を例え話しによって語って仰せになった。「見なさい、種を蒔く者が種蒔きに出て行った。
4. そして、彼が蒔いていると、幾つかは道路脇に落ちた。すると、鳥共がやって来てそれらを食べてしまった。
5. また、他の幾つかは石ころだらけの場所に落ちた。土が多くはなかったのですぐに伸びてきた。地が深くなかったからだ。
6. しかし、太陽が昇ると枯れてしまった。根がないので乾し上がったのだ。
7. 又、幾つかは茨共の茂る地に落ちた。すると、茨共が伸びてきてそれらをふさいだ。
8. しかし、幾つかは良い地に落ちた。そして実り、ある種は百を、他は六十を、又、ほかの種は三十を実らせた。
9. 聞く耳があれば、その人は聞きなさい。」
10. すると、弟子たちが入って来て彼に言った、「なぜ彼らにたとえで話されるのですか。」
11. すると、彼は彼らに答えて仰せになった。「おまえたちにはもろもろの天の王国の秘密を知る事が与えられているが、彼らには与えられていないからだ。
12. だれでも持っている者は、彼は更に与えられ、そして、彼は豊かになる。しかし、持っていない者は持っている物さえも取られる。
13. だから、私は彼らにはたとえで語っている。見ているのに彼らは見ていない。又、聞いているのに彼らは聞いていないし、悟ってもいないからだ。
14. そこでイザヤの預言が彼らにあって現実になった。それには、こう言っている。『あながたは、聞くには聞くが全く理解しない。又、見るには見る。しかし、決して悟らない。
15. この民の心は鈍感になり、彼らはその耳で聞くには重く、彼らはその目を閉じていたからだ。それは、彼らがその目で見、その耳で聞き、そして、その心が悟って立ち返り、私が彼らを癒さないためである。』
16. しかし、幸いなことだ。おまえたちの目は。それらは見ているからだ。又、両耳も幸いだ。聞いているからだ。
17. アーメン、私はおまえたちに言う。多くの預言者たちや義人たちは、おまえたちの見ている事を見たいと願ったが見なかった。又、おまえたちが聞いている事を聞きたいと願った。しかし、聞けなかった。
18. だから、おまえたちはこの蒔く人のたとえを聞きなさい。
19. だれでも王国の言葉を聞いていながら理解しなければ、邪悪な者がやって来て彼の心に蒔かれた物を奪い去っていく。これが道ばたに蒔かれた人だ。
21. 又、石ころだらけの地の上に種が蒔かれた人、それは御言葉を聞くと喜んですぐにそれを受け入れる人だ。
21. しかし、彼の内に根を持っていないので、それは一時的なものだ。御言葉のために困難や迫害が起こって来ると、彼はすぐにつまずかされる。
22. そして、茨共の中に種蒔かれた人とは、御言葉を聞きながらこの世への心遣いと富共の欺きによって御言葉をふさがれ、実を結ばないその人だ。
23. しかし、良い地に種蒔きされた人とは、御言葉を聞いて理解する人だ。その人は実を実らせ、一人が百を、もう一人は六十を、又は三十を産み出す。」
24. 又、彼は他のたとえ話しを人々の前でされ、こう仰せになった。「もろもろの天の王国は、良い種を自分の畑に蒔いた一人の人のようだ。
25. 人々が寝ている間に、彼の敵がやって来て、麦の真ん中に雑草の種を蒔き、逃げ去った。
26. さて、芽が出て実が着いてきたが、その時雑草も又現れた。
27. それで家の主人の僕たちが彼の所に来て言った、『ご主人様。あなたさまの畑にお蒔きになったのは、良い種ではありませんでしたか。いつからこの雑草が？』
28. すると、彼は言った、『一人の敵がこれをしたのだ。』そこで、僕が彼にこう言った。『それでは、私たちが彼らを集めて来ましょうか？』
29. しかし、彼は言った、『いや、おまえたちがその毒麦共を集める時に、麦までも一緒に引き抜くといけないから、
30. 収穫の時まで一緒に育つままにしておきなさい。収穫の時に私は収穫人たちに言おう。［最初に雑草共を集め、そして、それらを焼却するために束ねよ。麦は収穫して私の倉庫に入れよ］と。』」
31. 又、他のたとえを彼らに語って仰せになった。「もろもろの天の王国は、取られてある人に自分の畑に蒔かれた辛子の種に似ている。
32. それは知っての通りすべての種よりも小さい。しかし、それが成長すると、もろもろの草よりも大きくなり、一本の木にもなる。そして、天の鳥共が来て枝々に巣を作る。」
33. 更に、彼らにたとえ話しをして仰せになった。「もろもろの天の王国は、ある女性に取られて三目盛りの麦粉に混ぜられたパン種に似ている。時がくると全体が膨ませられる。」
34. これらすべての事を、イエスはたとえによってもろもろの群衆に語られた。又、たとえ以外では彼らに語られなかった。
35. こうして、預言者によって語られた事が成就された。そこではこう仰せになっている。「私は自分の口を開いてたとえを語ろう。私はこの世界の始めから隠されている事共について語ろう。」
36. さて、群衆を去らせると、イエスは家の中に入られた。すると、彼の弟子たちが彼のもとに来て、こう言った。「畑の毒麦のたとえを私たちに教えて下さい。」
37. そこで、彼は答えて仰せになった。「良い種を蒔く者とは、人の子の事だ。
38. 又、畑はこの世界だ。そして、良い種は王国の子供たちであり、雑草とは悪しき者の子供たちだ。
39. そして、その者たちを蒔いた者とはディアボロスだ。又、収穫とは世の終わりの事であり、収穫人たちとは御使いたちの事だ。
41. 人の子は彼の使いたちを送る。すると、彼らは彼の王国から、すべてのつまづきとすべての不法を行う者共を集めて来る。
42. そして、彼らはその者共を消える事のない火の中に投げ入れるが、そこでは泣き叫びと歯ぎしりとがある。
43. その時、義人たちは彼らの父の王国で太陽のように輝く。聞くための耳を持っている人は、聞きなさい。
44. 又、もろもろの天の王国は、野に隠されている宝に似ている。ある人がその隠してあるのを見つけると、それを隠しておき、その喜びのあまりに彼は行ってすべての持ち物を売り払い、そして、その野を買うのだ。
45. 又、もろもろの天の王国は優れた真珠たちを捜している一人の商人に似ている。
46. 一つの非常に貴重な真珠を見つけた商人は、行って持物をすべて売ってそれを買った。
47. 更に、もろもろの天の王国は海に投げ入れられ、何の種類（の魚）でも皆集めてしまう魚網のようだ。
48. そして、それが一杯になると、彼らはそれを浜に引き上げ、そこに座って良い物は器に入れ、悪い物は投げ捨てる。
49. 世の完成の時にもその様な事が起こる。使いたちは出て行って義人たちの中から悪い者たちを選別し、
50. そして、消えることのない火の中に彼らを投げ入れる。そこでは泣き叫びと歯ぎしりとがある。」
51. イエスは彼らに、「おまえたちは、これらの事がすべて理解できたか？」と仰せになった。彼らは彼に、「はい、主よ。」と言った。
52. そこで、彼は彼らに仰せになった。「それだから、もろもろの天の王国の御言葉を学んだ人はすべて、自分の倉から新しい物や古い物を取り出している一家の主人に似ている。」
53. さて、イエスはこれらのたとえ話しを終えると、そこから退かれた。
54. そして、ご自分の町へ入り、スナゴーグで彼らに教えられた。すると、彼らは驚かされ、そして言った、「この知恵とこのすごい力とはどこから手に入れたのか。
55. この人はあの大工の息子ではないか。彼の母親はマリヤと言わないか？また、彼の弟たちはヤコブとヨセと、シモーンとユダではないのか。
56. 彼の妹たちだって、みんなわれわれと共にいるではないか。それならこの人はどこからこれらの事どもを得たのか？」
57. そうして彼らは彼に躓かされてしまった。しかし、イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「預言者は、彼の故郷とその家以外なら、敬われないことはない。」
58. それで、彼は彼らのその不信仰のために、そこでは多くの力のある働きをなさらなかった。

The Parable of the Sower
13 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.
4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.
6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.
8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
The Purpose of Parables
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:
‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.’
And seeing you will see and not perceive;

The Parable of the Sower Explained
18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower:
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;
25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.
27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’
28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’
29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
31 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,
32 which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
The Parable of the Leaven
33 Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.”
Prophecy and the Parables
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, 35 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
“I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
The Parable of the Tares Explained
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one
.39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.
41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
The Parable of the Hidden Treasure
44 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,
46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
The Parable of the Dragnet
47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,
48 which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,
50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
51 Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?”
They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
52 Then He said to them, “Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
53 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, that He departed from there.54 When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?
56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”
57 So they were offended at Him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”
58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
