２８章

主はよみがえられた

1.　さて、安息日が過ぎて週の最初の日が明け始めると、マグダレーネのマリヤと、もう一人のマリヤが墓を見に来た。

2.　すると、見よ、大きな地震が起きた。それは主の天使が天から下って来て、入口から岩を転がして、その上に腰掛けていたからであった。

3.　そして、彼の顔立ちは稲妻のようであり、彼の衣服は雪のように白かった。

4.　そして、衛兵たちは彼への恐れで震え、死人のようになった。

5.　しかし、天使は女性たちに言った。「あなたがたは恐れてはなりません。私はあなたがたが捜している、十字架に架けられたイエスを知っているからです。

6.　彼はここにはおられません。彼が仰せられていたように、よみがえられたからです。来て、主が置かれていた場所をご覧なさい。

7.　そして、急いで彼の弟子たちの所に行って、主は死からよみがえられ、あなたがたより先にガリラヤに行かれてそこで彼はあなたがたに会われると告げなさい。見なさい。私はあなたがたに言っておきましたから。」

8.　そこで、彼女たちは、恐れと大きな喜びとをもって墓地を出て行き、彼の弟子たちの所に知らせるために走っていった。

女たちが復活した主を礼拝する

告げようとして行くと、見よ、イエスが彼女たちと会って言われた、「汝らに喜びあれ！[1]」そこで、彼女たちは来て、彼の両足にしがみつき、彼を礼拝した。

10.　その時、イエスは彼女たちに仰せになった。「恐れるな。行って私の兄弟たちにガリラヤに行くように伝えなさい。そこで彼らは私に会うことになっているから。」

兵士たちの賄賂

11.　彼女たちが行くと、見よ、衛兵のうちの数人が町に入って行って、祭司長たちに起こったすべてのことを報告した。

12.　そこで、長老たちは互いに集まって相談し、大金を衛兵たちに渡して

13.　こう言った、「彼の弟子たちが夜中にやって来て、私たちが寝ている間に彼を盗んで行ったと言いなさい。

14.　そうしたら、もし、この事が提督の耳に入っても、われわれが彼をなだめ、あなたがたを安全にしてあげよう。」

15.　そこで、彼らは金を受け取り、彼らに指示されたようにした。そこで、彼らのこの言い分はユダヤ人の間に広がって今日にまで至っている。

16.　それから、十一弟子たちは、ガリラヤに行って、イエスが彼らに指示された山に行った。

17.　そして、彼にお目にかかると、彼らは彼を礼拝した。しかし、何人かは疑った。

18.　イエスは来て彼らに語ってこう言われた、「天においても地においても、すべての権威は私に与えられている。

19.　それゆえ、行ってすべての諸国民[2]を弟子にし、彼らに父と子と聖霊の御名においてバプテスマを授け、

20.　私が汝らに命じておいたすべての事を守るように教えよ。見よ、わたしは世の完結[3]まで、いつの日[4]汝らともにいる。アーメン⑤。」

He Is Risen

28 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.

 ² And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

 ³ His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 

⁴ And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.

⁵ But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 

⁶ He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 

⁷ And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

⁸ So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

The Women Worship the Risen Lord

⁹ And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.

 ¹⁰ Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go andtell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

The Soldiers Are Bribed

¹¹ Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened. 

¹² When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 

¹³ saying, “Tell them, ‘His disciples came at night and stole Him away while we slept.’ 

¹⁴ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will appease him and make you secure.” ¹⁵ So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

The Great Commission

¹⁶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 

¹⁷ When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 

¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

 ²⁰ teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

２７章

1.　さて、朝になった。すべての祭司長たち、また、民の長老たちはイエスを死刑にしようと企てた。

2.　そして、彼を縛りつけると彼を連行して、提督、ポンテオ・ピラトに引き渡した。

3.　その時、彼を引き渡たしたユダは、イたエスが死刑にされたのを後悔し、銀貨三十枚を祭司長たちや長老たちに返して、

4.　こう言った、「私は罪を犯して潔白な人の血を引き渡してして裏切てしまった。」すると彼らは言った。「それがわれわれに何だと言うのだ？お前が好きなようにすればいい。」

5.　そこで彼は引き下がって神殿の中に銀貨を投げ落とした。それから、彼は行って自ら首をくくって死んだ。

6.　しかし、祭司長たちはその銀貨を取り上げて言った。「この銀貨　は血の代価だから、これらを取ってコルバンに入れるのは、法にかなったものではない。」

7.　そこで、彼らは相談した上でそれを手に取り、外国人たちを葬る土地のために陶工の畑を購入した。

8.　そういうわけで、その畑はこの日まで、「血の畑」と呼ばれているのである。

ピラトと向き合うイエス

11.　さて、イエスは総督の前に立たれた。すると、総督は彼に尋ねてこ

う言った、「お前がこのユダヤの王なのか？」そこで、イエスは彼に仰せになった。「汝の言う通りである。」

12.　それから彼は祭司長たち、また、長老たちに訴えられている間、何もお答えにならなかった。

13.　そこで、ピラトは彼にこう言った、「お前に対して彼らがこんなにも多くの証言がさしているのに、お前は聞いていないのか？」

14.　しかし、彼は彼に一言もお答えにならなかった。それで総督は非常に驚いてしまった。

バラバの身代わり

15.　さて、総督は慣習で、祭りの時に、大衆に対して彼らが望んだ囚人を一人釈放してやることが常であった。

16.　さて、その時、彼らには悪名の高い囚人がいた。バラバと呼ばれていた。

17.　彼らは互いに集まって来ていた。それでピラトは彼らに言った。お前たちはだれを釈放して欲しいのか？バラバか？それとも、キリストと呼ばれているイエスか？」

18.　彼は、彼らが彼を引き渡したのは、ねたみのためである事を知っていたからである。　

19.　さて、彼が裁判用の壇の上に座っていると、彼の妻が、彼に使いを送ってこう言わせた、「あの正しい人と、あなたとの間には関わらないようにして下さい。彼のために私は今日、夢の中で本当に大変だったのですから。」

20.　しかし、祭司長たちや長老たちは、バラバを開放してイエスは滅ぼすようにと群衆を説きつけたのである。

21.　すると、提督は彼らに答えて言った。「諸君は二人のうちのどちらを私が釈放して欲しいのか？」すると、彼らは言った、「バラバだ。」

22.　ピラトは彼らにこう言　った、「それなら私にキリストと呼ばれているイエスをどうしろと言うのか」彼らは皆で言った。「十字架につけよ。」

23.　しかし、総督は言った。「それなら、彼は何の悪を行ったのか？」すると、彼らはさらに叫んで言った。「十字架につけよ。」

24.　そこで、ピラトはどうしようも無いどころか、逆に大騒ぎになってきているのを見て、水を取り寄せ、彼は両手をその群衆の前で洗ってこう言った、「私はこの正しい男の血には罪がない。お前たちの勝手にしろ。」

25.　すると、群衆は皆で答えて言った。「彼の血はわれわれとわれわれの子孫に。」

26.　それで、彼は彼らにバラバを釈放し、イエスを鞭打ち、十字架につけるために引き渡したのである。

27.　そして、総督の兵士たちはイエスをパエリトリウムに連行し、彼の所に兵士全員たちをイエスのまわりに集めた。

十字架の王

30.　そして、彼につばをはきかけ、葦を取り上げて彼の頭を打った。

31.　また、彼らは彼をなぶりものにすると、彼から外着をはぎ取って自分の着物を着せ、十字架につけるために引き出した。

32.　それから出て行くと、彼らはシモーンという名のクレナイの男性を見つけたので、彼らはこの人を強制徴募して彼の十字架を負わせた。

33.　そして、ゴルゴサ（それは頭蓋骨の場所と言われている）と呼ばれている所に入って行き、

42.　「彼は他人は救ったのに、彼自身を救う事ができないのだ。もし、彼がイスラエルの王だと言うなら、今十字架から下りて来い。そしたら、われわれは彼を信じよう。

43.　彼は天の神に信頼しているのだろう。さあ今、解放してもらえ。もし、彼が神のお気にいりの人物であるというなら。彼は言っていたではないか。『私は神の子だ。』と。」

44.　また、一緒に十字架に架けられていたあの強盗共も同じように彼をなじった。

イエスの十字架上の死

45.　それから第六の時から第九の時まで、全地に暗黒ががあった。

46.　そして、およそ九時頃、イエスは大声で叫んで言われた、「エリ、エリ、ラマ、サバクサニ。」すなわち、「わが神、わが神。どうしてあなたは私をお見捨てになったのですか？」

47.　すると、そこに立っていて聞いた者の何人かが言った。「この人はエリヤを呼んでいる。」

48.　そして、すぐに彼らのうちの一人が、駆けていってスポンジを取り、それに酸いぶどう酒を満たして葦の棒につけ、彼に与えた。

49.　しかし、その他の者たちは言った。「放っておけ。もし、エリヤが彼を救いに来るなら見ようではないか。」

50.　すると、イエスはもう一度大声で叫んでから、霊[1]を委ねられた。

51.　すると、見よ、神殿のベール上から根本まで二つに裂かれ、地が震われ、岩が裂かれた。

52.　また、墓が開かれ、そして、眠りについていた多くの聖徒たちの体が蘇った。

53.　そして、彼のよみがえりの後に、墓地から出てきて聖都　に入り、多くの人々に現れた。

54.　そこで、百人部隊の隊長と、彼と共にいてイエスを監視していた人々は、地震と起きた物事とを見て大いに恐れ、そして言った。「これは、本当に神の子であったのだ。」

55.　さて、そこには多くの女性たちが遠くから見つめていた。彼女たちはガリラヤからイエスの後について来て、彼に仕えていた人々であった。

ヨセフの墓に葬られたイエス

56.　その中にはマグダレーネのマリヤがおり、またヤコブとヨセとの母マリヤ、そして、ゼベダイの息子たちの母もいた。

57.　さて、夜になってある金持ちの男性がアリマサイアから来た。名をヨセフと言った。彼自身もまた、イエスの弟子になっていた。

58.　彼はピラトの所に行って、イエスの体を請い求めた。そこで、ピラトは死体を渡すように命じた。

59.　そこで、ヨセフは遺体を受け取ると、それをきれいな亜麻布で包み込み、

60.　それを彼の岩を切り出した新しい墓の中に安置し、墓の入り口に大きな石を転がしてて立ち去った。

61.　また、そこにマグダレーネのマリヤともう一人のマリヤがいて、墓に向かって座っていた。

ピラトは見張りを置く

62.　さて、備えの日の翌日に、祭司長たちやファリサイ派の人々は互いにピラトの所に集まった。

63.　そしてこう言った、「長官、私どもはあの詐欺師がまだ生きていた時に、『三日後に私は生き返る』と言っていたのを思い出しました。

64.　ですから、彼の弟子たちが彼を夜中に盗んで行って、人々に『彼は死からよみがえっている』と言うことがないように、墓を三日目まで守るように命じて下さい。そうでないと、最後の惑わしは初めのものよりも悪いでしょうから。」

65.　そこで、ピラトは彼らに言った。「お前たちには見張りがいるではないか、行ってお前たちの方法で墓を守るようにすればよい。」

66.　そこで、彼らは行って、墓を堅固にし、石を封印し、衛兵を置いた。

Jesus Handed Over to Pontius Pilate

27 When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.

² And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius　Pilate the governor.

Judas Hangs Himself

³ Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

 ⁴ saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.”

And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!”

⁵ Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

⁶ But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.”

 ⁷ And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 

⁸ Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

⁹ Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced,

 ¹⁰ and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”

Jesus Faces Pilate

¹¹ Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.” ¹² And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.

¹³ Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?”

 ¹⁴ But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.

Taking the Place of Barabbas

¹⁵ Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished.

 ¹⁶ And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 

¹⁷ Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” 

¹⁸ For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

¹⁹ While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.”

²⁰ But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 

²¹ The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?”

They said, “Barabbas!”

²² Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”

They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

²³ Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”

But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person.You see to it.”

²⁵ And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”

²⁶ Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

The Soldiers Mock Jesus

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. 

²⁸ And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 

²⁹ When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 

³⁰ Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. ³¹ And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

The King on a Cross

³² Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross. 

³³ And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull,

³⁴ they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink.

³⁵ Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots,^[f^] that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:

“They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”

³⁶ Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. ³⁷ And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him:

THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³⁸ Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.

³⁹ And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

⁴⁴ Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.

Jesus Dies on the Cross

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. ⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

⁴⁷ Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!”⁴⁸ Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

⁴⁹ The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”

⁵⁰ And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

⁵¹ Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, ⁵² and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; ⁵³ and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

⁵⁴ So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

⁵⁵ And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar, ⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb

⁵⁷ Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.

 ⁵⁸ This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. 

⁵⁹ When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

 ⁶⁰ and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. 

⁶¹ And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

Pilate Sets a Guard

⁶² On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate,

 ⁶³ saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said,‘After three days I will rise.’

 ⁶⁴ Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.”

⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” 

⁶⁶ So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.

２４章

1.　さて、イエスが神殿から去って行かれると、彼の弟子たちが来て、彼に神殿のもろもろの建物を指差した。

2.　しかし、イエスは彼らに仰せになった。「これらの物どもを全部見ていないか。アーメン。私は言う。石の上にある石が、投げ落とされないままでここに残ることは絶対にない。」

3.　さて、彼がオリーブ山に座しておられた時に、彼の弟子たちが人から離れ、彼の所に来てこう言った。「私たちにお話し下さい。いつそれらの事がおきるのですか。あなた様がお出でになることや、時代の完成の兆候は何ですか。」

4.　すると、イエスは彼らに答えて仰せになった。「汝らはだれかに過らせられないように注意していなさい。

5.　多くの者どもが私の名で『私が、キリストだ』と言いながら現れるから。そして、彼らは多くの人々をあざむく。

6.　また、汝らはもろもろの戦争のことを聞く。注意していなさい。惑わされないように。なぜならこれらの事は全て起こらなければならない。しかし、終わりはまだ来ない。

7.　民族は民族に向かい、王国は王国に向かって立ち上り、そこにはもろもろの飢饉や悪い伝染病や、地震がさまざまな場所で起こるからであろう。

8.　これらすべては、もろもろの悲しみのはじまりである。

9.　そのとき、彼らは汝らを苦ませ、また、殺すために引き渡す。そして、汝らは私の名のゆえに、すべての国民に憎まれる。

10.　また、その時、多くの者たちがつまずき、また、互いに裏切り合い、互いに憎み合う。

11.　そして、多くの偽預言者たちが起こり、多くの人々を欺く。

12.　不正行為が増し加わってくるので、多く人々の愛はしだいに冷たくなろう。

13.　しかし、終わりまで忍耐するなら、彼は救われる。

14.　そして、王国の福音は、すべての住民に対する証のために全世界で説教されるであろう。

15.　だから、汝らが預言者ダニエルによって語られた、荒らす忌むべき者が聖なる場所に立っているのを見るならば、・・読む者はだれでも悟れ

・・。

16.　その時は、ユダヤにいる人々は山々に逃げよ。

17.　屋根の上にいる人は、家にある何かを取りに下りてくるな！

18.　野にいる人も、彼の衣類を取りに帰るな！

19.　また、それらの日々に幼児を持つ人には災難だ。また、乳を与えている人々にも辛いことだ。

20.　しかし、汝らは祈りなさい。汝らの逃げるのが、冬にならないように。また、安息日にもならないように。

21.　その時にはひどい艱難があるからだ。それはこの世界の初めから今までにもなかったもので、これからもない程のものだ。

22.　そして、もし、それらの日々が短くされないならば、肉なる物はだれも救われない。しかし、選ばれた者たちのために、これらの日々は短くされる。

23.　その時、もし、だれかが汝に、『見なさい。ここにキリストがいます。そこにも、』と言っても、信じるな。

Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple

24 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. ² And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

³ Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

⁴ And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.

 ⁵ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

 ⁶ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

⁷ For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

 ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows.

⁹ “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.¹¹ Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. ¹² And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

 ¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The Great Tribulation

¹⁵ “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 

¹⁶ “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

 ¹⁷ Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.

 ¹⁸ And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. ¹⁹ But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! ²⁰ And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 

²¹ For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 

²² And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

²³ “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 

²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 

²⁵ See, I have told you beforehand.

²⁶ “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.

 ²⁷ For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ²⁸ For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Coming of the Son of Man

²⁹ “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

 ³⁰ Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 

³¹ And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The Parable of the Fig Tree

³² “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

 ³³ So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 

³⁴ Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

No One Knows the Day or Hour

³⁶ “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,^[e] but My Father only.³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 

³⁸ For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 

³⁹ and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

 ⁴⁰ Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 

⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. ⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.

 ⁴⁴ Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant

⁴⁵ “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.

 ⁴⁷ Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 

⁴⁹ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,

 ⁵⁰ the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 

⁵¹ and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

23.　だから、もし、汝が祭壇で汝のささげ物をしようとしている時に、汝の兄弟が汝に対して何かの事で敵意を持っているのを思い出すならば、

24.　祭壇の前にあなたのささげ物を置け。そして、行ってまずのその兄弟と和解し、それから来て汝のささげものをさよ。

25.　汝と敵対する者とは、を行く間に速やかに彼と和解しよよそうでなければ敵は汝を裁判所に渡し、裁判官は汝を下役に渡し、そして、汝は獄に投げ込まれる。

26.　アーメン。私は汝に言う。最後のコドラント[7]を払うまで、決してそこから出られない。

27.　汝らは、昔の人々に対して『姦淫を犯すな』と言われているのを聞いている。

28.　しかし、私は汝らに言う。女性を欲望をもって見ている者は皆、既に彼の心の中で彼女と姦淫を犯してしまったのだ。

31.　だれでも妻と離縁するなら『彼に、妻に対する離婚状を渡させよ』、と言われている。

32.　しかし、私は汝に言う。不貞以外の理由で彼女を離縁している人は彼女に姦淫を犯させ、別れた女性を娶っている人は皆、姦淫を犯しているのである。

33.　又、昔の人々に対して『いつわりり誓うな。主に対して汝の誓いを果たせ。』と言われているのを汝らは聞いている。

34．しかし、私は汝らに言う。一切誓ってはならない。天によっても。それは天の神の玉座ある。

    For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
⁴ Blessed are those who mourn,
    For they shall be comforted.
⁵ Blessed are the meek,
    For they shall inherit the earth.
⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    For they shall be filled.
⁷ Blessed are the merciful,
    For they shall obtain mercy.
⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart,
    For they shall see God.
⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers,
    For they shall be called sons of God.
¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
    For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Believers Are Salt and Light

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

¹⁴ “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

¹⁵ Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Christ Fulfills the Law

¹⁷ “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 

¹⁸ For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

 ¹⁹ Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 

²⁰ For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Murder Begins in the Heart

²¹ “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 

²² But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

 ²³ Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

 ²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 

²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.

²⁶ Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

Adultery in the Heart

²⁷ “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 

²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 

²⁹ If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

 ³⁰ And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

Marriage Is Sacred and Binding

³¹ “Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’

³² But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality^[e] causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

Jesus Forbids Oaths

³³ “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 

³⁴ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

 ³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 

³⁶ Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.³⁷ But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Go the Second Mile

³⁸ “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 

³⁹ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 

⁴⁰ If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 

⁴¹ And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 

⁴² Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

Love Your Enemies

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 

⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 

⁴⁶ For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 

⁴⁷ And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?

 ⁴⁸ Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
